All New 2022 Toyota Tundra near Buena Park, CA

GM, Ford and Ram all have plenty of plans for their full-size pickup trucks going into the 2022 model year, but Toyota looks to steal some of their thunder with the debut of the all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra. Toyota hasn't redesigned the Tundra since the 2007 model year, and there seems to be no rush in releasing all of the details as evident by the slow tease of the new Tundra. So on that note, here's the information that Toyota has released so far.

The bold new truck features in-your-face styling starting with the massive grille, wide hood and muscular fender arches. The model revealed was the off-road TRD Pro mode, and this truck looks ready for any terrain with black alloy wheels wrapped in Falken Wildpeak A/T tires and black side steps. 

In this picture, the new Tundra also reveals LED off-road light bars in the grille and bumper as well as LED clearance lights in the grille and on the fender flares similar to the F-150 Raptor. Like the current Tundra, expect the 2022 model to be offered in Double Cab and Crew Max body configurations with three bed options. It's not likely that Toyota will bring back a regular cab version of the Tundra.

Many details about the interior are still unknown for the 2022 Toyota Tundra, but we should be excepting improvements to the technology and luxury. Toyota did release a cleverly cropped image of the interior that confirms that the new Tundra will offer a massive, horizontally oriented touchscreen display. All of the images Toyota has shown of this truck so far have been of the TRD Pro model, and it's obvious that this rugged model will be getting lots of new premium content. 

For racing enthusiasts, the perforated steering wheel gets a red stripe at 12 o'clock to let the driver know where the wheels are pointing during off-road excursions, and the seats of this particular truck shows red perforated leather with the "TRD Pro" logo stitched into the seat back. Other details we can see from these teaser images include a huge panoramic roof, wireless smartphone charger next to the gear selector and a rotary dial that controls the off-road, tow and crawl modes. The next-generation Toyota Tundra will be an advancement over the current model, but like previous versions of this truck, the 2022 Tundra will continue to offer a rear window that rolls down.

The 2022 Toyota Tundra will be powered by an engine called the "iForce Max," but there are no details on this engine yet. The current Tundra is powered by the 5.7-liter iForce V-8, and rumors suggest that the iForce Max could be a twin-turbo V-6 engine. Toyota uses such an engine in the Lexus LS 500 with a 3.5-liter displacement that produces 416 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. That's considerably more power than the 381 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque available in the 2021 Tundra. The only other detail known about the new Tundra's powertrain is that the TRD Pro model will feature the aforementioned driver-selectable modes controlled by a rotary dial positioned near the gear selector. 

With no official details released at this point, there has been no information about any of the safety features that will be offered on the 2022 Toyota Tundra. That being said, expect the Tundra to come standard with a lengthy list of standard features such as the Toyota Safety Sense. On the 2021 Tundra, this standard suite of safety equipment includes Pre-collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Sway Warning System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Automatic High Beams.

The all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra will make its big debut this fall, but no official date has been released yet. While many of this truck's juicy details are still unknown, this truck will definitely make waves in the ever-popular full-size pickup truck segment.
